Oshi no Ko’s hit theme song by the popular duo YOASOBI has become Spotify Japan’s Most Played Song of 2023.

The milestone is unsurprising considering the song’s popularity across social media platforms like TikTok. It also hit #1 on Billboard Global earlier this year, with the official music video surpassing 1 million views only 8 hours after posting. In addition, the anime made history as HIDIVE’s biggest launch ever.

Based on the manga of the same name, Oshi no Ko is written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It follows the story of beloved teen idol Ai’s children, who are reincarnations of her doctor and one of his recently deceased patients. The series explores the pop idol industry’s highs and lows, including reportedly taking inspiration from real-life events.

Oshi no Ko streams on HIDIVE. Fans can listen to YOASOBI’s idol on Spotify or enjoy the music video on YouTube.
