Oshi no Ko Writer Says Manga “Ending Has Been Decided”
Oshi no Ko’s writer Aka Akasaka revealed the ending for the hit manga series “has been decided.”
Oshi no Ko‘s writer has revealed he has already decided how the manga will end.
Aka Akasaka, one of the two creators of Oshi no Ko, sat down for an interview with SPUR Magazine, the cover of which his characters Ruby and Aqua graced. In regards to his manga, Akasaka said, “The end is in sight, or perhaps I should say, the ending has been decided.” The writer did not give a window of time as to when he believed Oshi no Ko would end.
Truly the children of the world-famous idol Ai, Ruby and Aqua looked absolutely stunning and elegant as they posed on the cover of the August issue of the women’s fashion magazine SPUR. The illustration, drawn by manga artist Mengo Yokoyari, is entirely in black and white save for the twins’ eyes, a star glinting from one of their eyes. Idol Ruby poses with two peace signs crossed over her chest, pink Dior earrings and necklace shining. Aqua’s charisma shines through his steady gaze, a Tiffany aquamarine ring adorning her ring. A pair of wings are folded behind his back.
Serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since April 2020, Oshi no Ko received an anime adaptation, produced by Doga Kobo, in April 2023. As soon as it premiered, the anime became the highest rated anime on MyAnimeList and HIDIVE’s biggest launch in the streaming platform’s history. Since then, it has been well-received with many lauding its realistic depiction of the dark side of the entertainment industry.
Oshi no Ko follows twins Aqua and Ruby Hoshino, the secret children of deceased top idol Ai Hoshino, as they embark on the acting and idol paths. The two aren’t just hiding the fact that they’re Ai’s children: Aqua is the reincarnation of Dr. Gorou Amamiya, the obstetrician who treated Ai and was a huge fan of her, and Ruby is the reincarnation of Sarina Tendōji, a terminally ill patient who Dr. Gorou looked after before she died. While Ruby looks ahead, determined to chase her dream of finally becoming an idol, Aqua is focused on avenging Ai’s and his deaths.
