Oshi no Ko manga readers, at least you have the anime to comfort you.

After a second season was announced after its successful first season, Oshi no Ko has dropped the key visual of Season 2 at Anime Japan 2024. Aquamarine appears to be in the middle of rehearsal of the 2.5 stage play called “Tokyo Blade,” and has his customary serious expression on his face while everyone else appear to be having fun and fooling around. Oshi no Ko will release its second season in July.

In a very tongue-in-cheek way, the Oshi no Ko characters will be taking on a different role in “Tokyo Blade” with Kana Arima playing Tsurugi. Akane Kurokawa will play Sayahime. Aqua will play Touki. Melt Narushima will play Kizami. In addition, Kōki Uchiyama and Yūsuke Kobayashi join the voicing cast as Taiki Himekawa and Sakuya Kamoshida, respectively, and will play Blade and Monme in the stage play.

Oshi no Ko, written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, premiered its anime adaptation on April 12, 2023 and concluded with 11 episodes. Doga Kobo produced the first season with Daisuke Hiramaki and Chao Nekotomi directing. Jin Tanaka wrote the series script while Kanna Hirayama designed the characters. The first episode became the streaming platform HIDIVE’s top series launch in its history.

In addition to the anime, Oshi no Ko‘s popularity has also resulted in a live-action television series and film. Toei and Amazon will produce both projects. Asuka Saitō, a former Nogizaka46 member, will portray Ai Hoshino. Nagisa Saitō, a former =LOVE member, will play Ruby, Ai’s daughter. Kaito Sakurai will portray Aqua Hoshino, Ai’s son and Ruby’s twin brother. Nanoka Hara will play Kana Arima, Mizuki Kayashima will portray Akane Kurokawa, and ano, the singer behind theme songs for numerous anime including Chainsaw Man and Tiger and Bunny 2, has been announced to portray Memcho. The television series will stream on Amazon Prime Video worldwide in winter 2024.

Oshi no Ko starts with gynaecologist Gorou Amamiya helping to deliver the twin babies of his favourite idol Ai Hoshino. On the night she was to give birth, a mysterious man killed Gorou. The next time he woke up, he discovered he had reincarnated into one of Ai’s twins named Aquamarine. Aqua doesn’t realize that his twin sister Ruby is also the reincarnation of someone he knows from his first life: Sarina Tendōji, a terminally ill patient he treated before she died. Aqua and Ruby’s lives seem content until the same man who killed Gorou returns and kills Ai. Aqua throws himself into acting with the goal of finding out who the killer and his father is while Ruby chases her dreams of becoming an idol.

Oshi no Ko is available to stream on HIDIVE. The platform will also stream Season 2.
