Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint Reportedly Casts Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho for Film Adaptation
The film adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has extended offers to Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho to portray life and death companions Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint may have possibly found its Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk for its live-action adaptation.
As reported by Soompi, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has been confirmed for a live-action film adaptation with offers extended to Ahn Hyo-seop (Business Proposal) as protagonist Kim Dokja and Lee Minho (Pachinko) as Yoo Joonghyuk. Both actors’ respective agencies have confirmed Ahn and Lee have received offers and are currently in the process of reviewing them.
Reactions to the announcement have been mixed so far with many fans fearing a live-action adaptation will not convey the themes nor concepts Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has explored. As Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows a reader’s perspective, moving to a medium such as film may not translate as well.
Produced by Realies Pictures, who previously produced Along with the Gods series, Kim Byun Woo, who directed The Terror Live, will direct the film adaptation. Previously, Naver had reported in October 2020, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint will receive five movie adaptations, five drama seasons and numerous animation projects with more than $15 million invested into the franchise.
Based on a novel written by singNsong, Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint follows Kim Dokja who is the only reader who has stuck with the novel Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse for 10 years. When he reaches the ending, Kim Dokja receives a mysterious message from the author. Suddenly, the novel becomes a reality and he must now harness his knowledge of the book to navigate the events and survive. He teams up with the novel’s protagonist Yoo Joonghyuk in the hopes the two may be able to change the original novel’s plot.
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is currently ongoing and available to read on WEBTOON.
