The upcoming anime adaptation of My Happy Marriage has announced it will stream on Netflix.
Netflix’s official anime account revealed the platform will stream the anime when it premieres sometime in 2023. Netflix also dropped a new visual for the anime with Miyo Saimori and Kiyoka Kudo standing back to back, amongst a canopy of sakura. The anime will drop in Japan in July 2023 but Netflix has not yet confirmed whether they will simulcast My Happy Marriage. Produced by Cinema Citrus, Takehiro Kubota (Dorehedoro and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition) directs the anime with Ami Satō writing the scripts. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden and Muv-Luv Alternative) will compose the music for the anime.
A light novel series written by Akumi Agitogi, featuring illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka, My Happy Marriage began serialization under Fujimi Shobo’s imprint Fujimi L Bunko in January 2019. The series revolves around Miyo Saimori, who is forcefully married off to Kiyoka Kudo, a ruthless, cold-hearted commander who has gained a notorious reputation for himself after chasing off his previous three engagements. Fearful that she had only jumped from one bad situation to another, Miyo soon realizes that Kiyoka isn’t as monstrous as he first appears.
A manga adaptation began serialization in December 20188 with Square Enix licensing the series for English publication. Prior to the anime’s release, My Happy Marriage will also release a live-action adaptation, set to premiere on March 17, 2023 in Japan. Ayuko Tsukahara will direct the film with Tomoe Kanno as scriptwriter.
My Happy Marriage streams on Netflix in 2023.
