A new Mo Dao Zu Shi adaptation is coming fans’ way!

As part of Wei Wuxian’s birthday celebrations, Mo Dao Zu Shi has announced a new manga adaptation in black and white; the previous comic adaptation was in colour. A teaser visual has been released of Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji when they were younger. The carefree Wei Wuxian shows off his jar of his favourite alcohol, Emperor’s Smile, while holding Suibian in his other hand. Lan Wangji, stoic as always, stands beside him, grasping Bichen in his hand.

In addition to the manga adaptation, Mo Dao Zu Shi also released an extra episode of the audio drama, which adapts the “Incense Burner” chapter of the novel, on Wei Wuxian’s birthday. The donghua also dropped a new illustration of the protagonist, set in the fall.

The manhua adaptation of Mo Dao Zu Shi is a full-colour adaptation, adapted by Mao Tuan Xian Jian Jian. Leo Di Cheng Liu illustrated the manhua with HAloggz illustrating the main cover. The first chapter released on Dec. 8, 2017 with Chapter 259 released on Oct. 26, 2022.

Based on the New York Times-best selling novel series by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Mo Dao Zu Shi follows the brilliant, but unconventional, cultivator Wei Wuxian who becomes the most detested and feared cultivator after choosing the path of demonic cultivation. 13 years after his death, it seemed like the world had gone into a period of peace until he returns to the world of the living via summoning. Although Wei Wuxian had every intention to live peacefully without drawing attention to himself, a case about a ghost arm pulls him back into events from 13 years ago…and the man whom he once thought was his enemy.

Mo Dao Zu Shi donghua is available to watch on Viki and YouTube while the audio drama is accessible through Miss Evan. Seven Seas holds the official English license for the novel series and manhua adaptation.
