Kimi ni Todoke Announces Season 3 on Netflix in 2024

Kimi ni Todoke has announced Season 3, more than 10 years after Season 2 ended.

After more than a decade, Kimi ni Todoke will return for a third season.

As per Netflix Anime, Kimi ni Todoke has announced Season 3 which will stream worldwide in 2024, exclusively on Netflix. The original cast, Mamiko Noto and Daisuke Namikawa will return to reprise their roles as Sawako Kuronuma and Shota Kazehaya. Production I.G will animate the third season.

The story follows Sawako Kuronuma who is mercilessly ostracized due to her resemblance to Sadako Yamamura from The Ring. As a result, Sawako forgets how to understand others and express herself. One day, she meets Shōta Kazehaya, a popular boy in her class, under the cherry blossoms and helps him find his way. Intrigued and moved by her kind personality, Shōta begins talking to her, opening up her previously narrow world.

Written and illustrated by Karuho Shiina, Kimi ni Todoke began serialization in Bessatsu Margaret from 2005 to 2017. It currently has 30 tankōbon volumes and won several accolades includingBest Shōjo Manga award at the Kodansha Manga Award. The manga also received a nomination for he first Manga Taisho award in 2008.

The manga received an anime adaptation in October 2009 which ended in March 2010. A second season was green-lit in January 2011 and concluded in March 2011. In addition, Kimi ni Todoke has also inspired a live-action film adaptation which released in September 2010. A live-action television series premiered in March 2023.
