Kaiju No. 8 Combines Comedy and Action in Exhilarating Trailer

Kaiju No. 8 unleashes a third trailer. The anime will stream on Crunchyroll and X/Twitter in April 2024.

Kaiju No. 8‘s Kafka exchanges his clean-up crew outfit for an exterminator outfit — plus something extra.

A third trailer for Kaiju No. 8 has been unleashed, showcasing more of the chaos of being involved in kanji extermination and clean-up before ending with Kafka standing alone in the middle of a blood shower. The trailer also introduces two other cast members with Fairouz Ai (Chainsaw Man‘s Power) as Kikoru Shinomiya and Kengo Kawanishi (Dr. Stone‘s Gen Asagiri) as Soshiro Hoshina. Masaya Fukunishi was previously announced as the voice of Kafka Hibino, Wataru Katō as Reno Ichikawa, and Asahi Srto as Mina Ashiro.

Production I.G will animate and produce Kaiju No. 8 with Studio Khara will oversee the kaiju designs and various artwork. Mahiro Maeda will design the monsters with Shin Kimura as the art director. Shingeyuki Miya will direct with Ichiro Okouchi in charge of both the screenplay and series composition. Tetsuya Nishio will come on as the character designer and chief animation director. Yuta Bando will compose.

Not only will Kaiju No. 8 stream on Crunchyroll in April 2024, it will also have a unique broadcasting platform as the anime will also stream on X/Twitter worldwide as it airs on TV in Japan.

Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, Kaiju No. 8 launched in Shōnen Jump+ in July 2020 with 11 million copies in circulation as of March 2023. The story follows childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mina Ashiro who make a promise to fight kaiju together by becoming members of the Defence Force. However, life takes them into different directions with Mina as the captain of the Defence Force’s Third Division and Kafka as the clean-up crew who is there to clean up the mess after the Defence Force has already killed the kaiju. Kafka’s life irrevocably changes when a kaiju jumps into his mouth, giving him the ability to turn into a kaiju. As if things weren’t bad enough, he now has to keep his identity a secret when he finally gets his wish: joining Mina as a member of the Defence Force.

Kaiju No. 8 is available to read on Viz Media. The anime premieres in April 2024.
