With July 6, the premiere date for the highly-anticipated second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, fast approaching, the anime series has unveiled the release date for the next arc. From July 6 to August 3, Jujutsu Kaisen will release the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” arc, or in English, the “Hidden Inventory/Premature Death” arc. The anime will then do a recap of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episodes 1-5 and the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on Aug. 10. An episode recap of the first season will air on Aug. 17. After a one-week break, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will resume with the “Shibuya Incident” arc on Aug. 31.

Set in the spring of 2006 during Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto’s youth when they were attending Jujutsu High, the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” arc details their friendship and eventual fall-out as they work together to escort Riko Amanai, the “Star Plasma Vessel” designated to merge with Master Tengen, fighting to protect her against the assassin Toji Fushiguro. Yuichi Nakamura and Takahiro Sakurai will return to voice Gojo and Geto, respectively.

Produced by Studio MAPPA and directed by Shota Goshozono, Jujutsu Kaisen is based on Gege Akutami’s best-selling manga series. The series follows Yuji Itadori, an unusually fit high-schooler who, one night, swallows a rotten finger to save his friends. In doing so, Yuji has now become host to the powerful and evil King of Curses named Ryomen Sukuna. Upon discovering that Yuji still retains control over his body, Gojo Satoru, generally considered to be the strongest sorcerer in the world and a teacher at Jujutsu High, proposes that Yuji train himself and hunt down the rest of Sukuna’s fingers. Once he has done so, the sorcerer society can then eliminate Sukuna, and Yuji, for good.

Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen begins on July 6 and will stream simulcast on Crunchyroll.
