With two months left before Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s premiere, details about the opening and ending theme songs have been released.

As reported by Crunchyroll, Tatsuya Kitani, who has performed the opening and special ending song for Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, will sing the opening song “Ao no Sumika.” Singing the ending theme song “Akari,” is Soushi Sakiyama, who performed the ending theme song for Season 5 of My Hero Academia. Fans can catch a snippet of Kitani’s opening theme song on May 21 where MAPPA will hold a event where a new PV is expected to be released.

As translated by Jさん (@/soukatsu_), Kitani comments on the opening reflects the relationship between Gojo and Geto: “The day he learned that no matter how close ‘you’ and ‘I’ are, no matter how much they felt as though they were looking towards the same future, they were ultimately different people.” Sakiyama said “Akari” represents “Geto Sugur’s change of heart born out of the accumulation of his experiences and his torment, as well as the feelings direct towards Geto from the people in his life.”

Season 2 will first cover the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” arc, which transports Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru back 11 years into the past. Although fans currently know the two as enemies, Gojo and Geto were once good friends and this arc will cover their friendship and subsequent fall-out. The second season will also cover the “Shibuya Incident” arc. Yuichi Nakamura, Gojo’s VA, has also revealed this season will contain more anime-exclusive scenes, saying “I’ll be glad if the fans from the manga can enjoy the enhanced direction in the anime.”

Jujutsu Kaisen‘s second season premieres on July 6.
