Heaven Official’s Blessing has given Xie Lian the greatest gift of all for his birthday.

Heaven Official’s Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu celebrated Xie Lian’s birthday with a new video. The video showcases some sneak peeks of the scenery outside of Puqi Village in Season 2. Xie Lian examines the silver ring Hua Cheng left him in Season 1. A new key visual features Xie Lian with a serene expression on his face, one hand raised to offer a perch for a silver butterfly to rest on. The visual ripples, melting into the key visual for Hua Cheng’s birthday when he lovingly carved a statue of Xie Lian in the exact same pose. When put together, the two perfectly match.

The beloved Crown Prince of Xianle, Xie Lian was also known as the Flower Crown Martial God and was constantly seen with a flower in one hand and a sword in the other. Kind and loyal to a fault, Xie Lian never hesitates to help people in need, regardless of who they are, and often has a macabre sense of humour when it comes to bad things happening to him. Xie Lian has been banished from the heavens twice and recently ascended for the third time and it was this time that he met Hua Cheng, the Crimson Rain Sought Flower whose moniker brings fear to every god’s heart.

Based on the series written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Tian Guan Ci Fu received a donghua adaptation in October 2020 with Haoliners Animation League overseeing the animation and production. Jiang Guangtao voiced Xie Lian in Season 1 but left the donghua due to “personal reasons.” Jiang had been arrested in late 2022 for misappropriating approximately $2 million of public funds, leading to his studio terminating their contract with him. Deng Youxi replaced Jiang as the voice actor for Xie Lian. Ma Zhengyang portrays Hua Cheng.

Season 1 of Heaven Official’s Blessing is available to watch on Crunchyroll with a second season on its way. The novel series is published by Seven Seas Entertainment.
