Heaven Official’s Blessing Introduces the Mysterious Fang Xin Guoshi

Heaven Official’s Blessing reveals a mysterious new character named Fang Xin Guoshi. The second season premieres on Oct. 18.

A mysterious new character has entered the fray of Heaven Official’s Blessing.

With two days left until the Season 2 premiere of Heaven Official’s Blessing, the official social media account for the donghua has unleashed the character poster for Fang Xin Guoshi. A slim man dressed in dark robes and a butterfly mask covering his face, Fang Xin Guoshi is standing in a palace, evoking an imposing aura. Fang Xin Guoshi is the guoshi of Yong’an and was the shifu of Lang Qianqiu. Despite being cold and distant, Lang Qianqiu idolized his master.

Heaven Official’s Blessing revealed the the character visual for Qi Rong, the Green Ghost who is also Xie Lian’s younger cousin, Shi Qingxuan, Shi Qingxuan, and Ming Yi, but in his male form. The first character visual they unveiled for the countdown was the Heavenly Emperor Jun Wu.

Based off the best-selling novel series written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Heaven Official’s Blessing received a donghua adaptation with Li Haoling as the director. The story follows a thrice-ascended god named Xie Lian who unravels the mysteries of his past from 800 years ago when he meets a red-robed man named Hua Cheng who has been waiting for Xie Lian for a long time.

Jiang Guangtao voiced Xie Lian in Season 1 with Ma Zhengyang voicing Hua Cheng, but Heaven Official’s Blessing has since revealed Jiang would not return for Season 2 due to “personal reasons.” Jiang was arrested for misappropriating approximately $2 million of public funds in late 2022, resulting in his studio Houlang Studio terminating their contract with him. Ding Youxi will voice Xie Lian in Season 2. Luhan performs the opening theme song “怜城辞,” with Tan Jing performing the ending theme song “归于尘.”

Heaven Official’s Blessing will return with Season 2 on Oct. 18 on Crunchyroll.
