Dage Drops Preview Images and 2024 Release Date

The live-action adaptation of Dage, otherwise known as Unknown the Series, will have a projected release date of 2024.

The Instagram account of Unknown the Series released three additional images of the upcoming danmei adaptation. The first image showcase the sweet relationship between Wei Qian and Wei Xiaoyuan as they gaze at each other. Unknown the Series also released two individual shots of the main characters.

Chris Chiu will play the older brother Wei Qian. In a Yahoo! interview, Chiu explained that his character has encountered a lot of pain and suffering since he was young, with his life filled with tragedy and darkness. “Wei Qian’s personality is quite calm and he doesn’t say much but he has a lot of hidden layers.” In the past, Chiu had portrayed more lively characters who are often quite direct with how they’re feeling, but the actor said the director hoped he could suppress his emotions inside his heart and instead allow the audience to feel Wei Qian’s emotions through his actions and expressions.

Xuan will play the younger brother Wei Xiaoyuan, and revealed that Wei Xiaoyuan is very different from his personality. “I’m very talkative love to joke and play around, but Xiaoyuan’s personality is quite repressed and keeps a lot of his emotions inside. When we started filming, the thing I practiced the most was trying to smile as little as possible. When something happened, I tried not to have too big of a shift in my emotions.”

Xuan continued, saying Unknown the Series was unlike any other BL he knew out there, saying it had quite a number of profound stories. “I really like Xiaoyuan’s determination and how he’s not the type to give up easily when it comes to things that he likes. When things get tough, he’ll grit his teeth and bear with it. This determination has filtered into my own personality and is shining brightly within me.”

Produced by TURE LOVE MEDIA LIMITED, Unknown the Series will star Chris Chiu and Xuan although the series has not specified which role the actors will play. Chiu is a member of a boyband named JPN and has acted in a few films and television series. Xuan has also acted in several television series and participated in the idol competition Youth with You. Jiang Rui Zhi (We Best Love) will direct the series.

Written by Priest (Sha Po Lang, Mo Du, Lie Huou Jiao Chou), Dage revolves around the relationship between Wei Qian and Wei Xiaoyuan. Wei Qian, who was orphaned at a young age, originally lived with his half-sister before he picked up another street child and gave him the name Xiaoyuan. Having grown up with nothing, Wei Qian dreams of nothing else but making money and carving out a name for himself in the world. Just as things seem to have taken a turn for the better, Xiaoyuan goes off the rails.

There is currently no official English license of the novel Dage. Unknown the Series is anticipated to release in early 2024.
