Cowboy Bebop’s Shinichirō Watanabe Enthralls with Lazarus Preview
A slick preview trailer has been released for Lazarus, the new anime series from Shinichirō Watanabe and Studio MAPPA.
Shortly after the announcement of Lazarus, a preview of Shinichirō Watanabe’s new anime has dropped.
At San Diego Comic Con 2023, Adult Swim revealed a preview trailer for Cowboy Bebop director Shinichirō Watanabe’s latest anime called Lazarus. Watanabe will direct every episode. While the trailer does not contain any voices, Lazarus‘s smooth choreography, courtesy of action director Chad Stahelski, and futuristic jazz music score, composed and produced by Kamasi Washington, Floating Points and Bonobo, has already impressed many viewers. Animated by MAPPA and produced by Sola Entertainment, Lazarus will run for 13 episodes on Adult Swim.
The trailer opens with breaking news as Dr. Skinner makes an announcement that will change the course of everyone’s lives. Three years ago, the Nobel Prize award-winning neurologist had created a pain medication called Hapuna that has been lauded as a miracle drug. Everyone was taking it and it had eventually become an essential medication. However, Dr. Skinner reveals that Hapuna will kill everyone who took the drug three years later. A special task force comprised of five agents called Lazarus have been deployed to stop Dr. Skinner.
Lazarus has not announced a release date yet.
