Bungo Stray Dogs Announces Plans for Eighth Anniversary

Bungo Stray Dogs has eight projects lined up to celebrate its eighth anniversary.

Bungo Stray Dogs fans have a huge list of projects to look forward to.

To celebrate its eighth anniversary, Bungo Stray Dogs has announced a total of eight projects, beginning on April 7, 2024. The first four projects have been revealed which comprise mainly of collaborations with various brands. The next four projects will be announced at a later date.

According to AniTrendz, the first project will begin with the “Eighth Anniversary Commemorative Memoirs with Animate International” where Animate stores will reprint the seasonal illustrations of Bungo Stray Dogs as commemorative goods. The second project will be a Red Tokyo Tower collaboration which will run from April 19 to May 26 where fans can experience first-hand where the inspiration from the Sky Casino was drawn from.

The third project will be a “Tobu Zoo Collaboration” which begins on July 13 and continue throughout the year. The fourth project will feature a pop-up store and hotel experience called “First Avenue Tokyo Station B1 Event Space Ichiban Plaza & Hotel New Otani Collaboration” where fans can reserve hotel concept rooms to stay in.

Written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa, Bungo Stray Dogs revolves around the people hailing from the Armed Detective Agency, who possess supernatural powers and solve crimes. All the characters share names with famous writers. The series launched in Young Ace in December 2012 and currently has 24 volumes as of September 2023. The manga hit 10 million copies in circulation in 2022.

The series inspired an anime adaptation produced by Studio Bones. The first season premiered on April 7, 2016 and currently has five seasons aired. Season 5 won Anime of the Year at the 2023 Anime Corner Award, beating out Attack on Titan: The Final Chapters and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. A film called Bungo Stray Dogs: Dead Apple released in March 2018. A spin-off animated series called bungo Stray Dogs Wan! aired in January 2021. The series also inspired a live-action film called Bungo Stray Dogs The Movie: Beast which released in January 2022.
