Who needs self-help books when romance novels and a group of supportive bros can help soothe a broken heart and save a failing marriage?

As per ComicsBeat, Manta Comics has announced its latest webcomic adaptation for Lyssa Kay Adams’s popular 2019 romance novel The Bromance Book Club. The novel was selected as Amazon Book Review’s No. 1 Best Romance of 2019 and landed on Bustle’s “21 Rom-Coms to Give You Warm and Fuzzy Feelings All Season Long” list. The webcomic adaptation will launch on the webcomics platform on Sept. 3.

The Bromance Book Club marks Manta’s second Western media adaptation as the publisher recently released the webcomic adaptation of The Lady Alchemist, a fantasy novel written by Samantha Vitale. Manta has adapted several other mediums into webcomics including Svaha: The Sixth Finger and A Hard Day, both of which are popular South Korean films. The publisher has also adapted South Korean novels including Semantic Error, Under the Oak Tree and I’ve Become a True Villainess.

“At Manta, we are dedicated to bringing our readers compelling stories from around the world – whether they are created entirely by Manta Studios or based on existing books, novels, films, TV shows, video games or other formats,” said Moonseok Jeong, Head of Content and COO of Manta. “Lyssa Kay Adams’ The Bromance Book Club ia cherished IP that has resonated with countless fans, and we are excited for Bromance fans to be able to return to the world of her novel to experience the story in a vibrant new way on Manta.”

The Bromance Book Club follows Gavin Scott, a pro baseball player hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, who finds himself fumbling the ball when he discovers his wife “has always faked the big O.” An argument leads to their marriage hanging on the tenterhooks as his wife Thea asks for a divorce. Desperate, Gavin turns to a secret book club called The Bromance Book Club where Nashville’s top macho men gather together to read romance novels. Gavin hopes his new friends as well as the romance novels they’re reading will help him save his marriage.

Adams’s The Bromance Book Club has earned much praise for its story that dismantles toxic masculinity with a heartwarming and humorous touch. The author went on to write four more books in the series with the fifth one releasing in November 2022. The immense popularity of the first novel led to Netflix optioning it for a live-action adaptation in 2020 with Mark Ciardi producing and Bill Holderman and Erin Simms co-adapting the story. There is currently no release date announced.

The Bromance Book Club releases on Manta Comics on Sept. 3. The app is free to download on Android and iOS devices.
