86 -Eighty Six- Announces Final Arc of Light Novels
Volume 14 of 86 -Eighty Six- will mark its final arc, titled “District 86.”
The award-winning light novel series 86 -Eighty Six- is entering its final arc.
As reported by Anime News Network, the war drama light novel series 86 -Eighty Six- will be in its final arc, titled “District 86,” in Volume 14. This news was revealed by the writer Asato Asato in Volume 13. The 13th volume released in Japan on Jan. 10, 2024 with no release date for the English volume announced yet.
Written by Asato Asato and illustrated by Shirabii with I-IV in charge of the mechanical design, 86 -Eighty Six- takes place in the conflict between the Empire and the Republic of San Magnolia. While the public is under the impression that the war is being fought between autonomous units called Juggernauts, they don’t realize that these machines are being controlled by humans known as “86,” who have no rights and are persecuted by the Alba people. Major Lena Milizé has been assigned to the Spearhead Squadron of the Eastern Front as the Handler where she meets the leader Shinei Nouzen. While the two struggle to work together, they realize that the war is not all as it seems.
86 -Eighty Six- received an anime adaptation, animated and produced by A-1 Pictures. The anime aired from April 2021 to March 2022 and had 23 episodes. The light novel series won the Grand Prize at the 23rd Dengeki Novel Prize award in 2016 and has received positive reviews for both the light novel and anime adaptation.
